What is your definition of "recruitment" and "Customer Service"? Have you ever worked in a recruitment capacity? Or in a Customer Service related field?
Think of a time where you received bad customer service.
As a fellow CSUSB employee I actually did a lot of recruitment when I was working in the Administration and Finance Division. So my definition of recruitment if finding a person/applicant to fill a desired spot in our office. A good "fit" if you will. The knowledge, personality, that will work well with the others in the office.
My definition of "Customer Service" is a person who answers the questions you have, and if they do not have the answers, they find out who does and either gets them for you or assists you in finding the right person to ask. I think customer service is part of everyone's job and actually life. Its just giving others help and treating everyone else the way you want to be treated.
Hmmm...bad customer service...well as a student here at CSUSB, I have received bad customer service repeatedly. I have called an office trying to get help in answering a question that I had no clue who to ask, and have gotten the run around and hung up on!
I have worked in both the recruitment capacity and with customer service in my current job with College of Extended Learning. I recruit new student all the time, but I mostly look at it (think of it as) sharing opportunities instead of sales or recruitment. I try to match any training opportunities I have to what the student (or potential student) needs or wants. To me, this type of attitude about recruitment is actually good customer service, or the start of the process of good service. I grew up working in a family retail business, and my father was a pro at taking very good care of his customers...it was to everyone's benefit. He used to tell me regarding returns "When you see someone coming INTO the store with one of our bags, (they were a distinctive color so you could spot them on the street!)drop what you are doing if possible and meet them before they get to the service desk. Give them priority attention and ask them if they needed to return anything." He said, "The customer is doing you a huge favor by bring a problem to your attention...they are giving you another opportunity to make it right instead of leaving you as a customer and telling everyone else about their negative experience."
I recently shopped one of my online training competitors and had a frustrating experience with poor service. I responded to an ad on TV about getting a catalog sent to me. The 800 # was a large marketing company, not our local trainer's office. They took all my information and transfered me to someone else, who asked all the same information again, then transferred me to a voice mail at the local location where I left my simple request again and asked that a sale person not call me...just send me the catalog. I got a voice message from a sales person next asking me to call her back, after speaking with her today, she asked me for the same information and essentially tried to talk me into coming in the their "store" in person. Only after telling her she was pissing me off did she agree to send me a catalog. Oh, she also asked me why I didn't just go on line and look at their catalog and I told her..."Haven't you put me through enough work to do business with you!"
What is your definition of "recruitment" and "Customer Service"? My definition of recruitment is when one entity encourages others to join in their cause or organization.
Customer service is a function of an organization that is committed to assisting clients and/or customers with their needs, comments, suggestions, and/or products.
Have you ever worked in a recruitment capacity? I have recruited as a volunteer. My professional experience has not been in recruitment.
Or in a Customer Service related field? I have worked in customer service in a retail store and in food service.
Think of a time where you received bad customer service. A particular time does not come to mind. However, general behaviors from employees that promote poor customer service might include getting noticeably frustrated with clients or making the customer feel rushed or pressured.
